About
Highfield Community Hall began life as the Parish hall serving St Matthew’s Church, Highfield — the church on Billinge Road that was built in the late 19th century. The church’s long presence created the need for a nearby parish hall for events, meetings and community use, and the building has been closely linked to parish life ever since.
The lounge and bars were next to come and have slowly evolved over time to provide multiple functional spaces for locals along with developments with Highfield Cricket Club and St Matthews Bowling Club.
Over the years the hall and it's lounges have operated as a local hub for clubs, parties, church groups and neighbourhood events. It has also been used for room hire, concerts and community fundraisers, keeping a steady role as a focal point for Highfield and surrounding streets.
In February 2020 the new management of the venue was formalised when Highfield Community Hall C.I.C. (a community interest company) was incorporated. Since then the hall has been run as a community-centred organisation and promoted under the name Highfield Community Hall.
Today the building continues to host everything from family parties and club nights, to volunteer activities and church-related events — maintaining the same neighbourhood-serving purpose it has had for generations while operating with a modern community-run structure. The bar has recently undergone a full refurbishment and is well stocked, and we now operate a brand-new membership system that offers regulars cheaper drinks and exclusive offers.
Our committee is made up of local people who share a genuine passion for the community.
Working on a voluntary basis, they ensure the hall, bar, and lounges run smoothly and provide a warm, welcoming space for people to meet, greet, and celebrate together.

Highfield Community Hall sits on Billinge Road, beside St Matthew’s Church, on the same site as Highfield Cricket Ground and St Matthew’s bowling green.
We offer the largest indoor and outdoor venue in the area for socialising, celebrating, commemorating, and bringing the community together.
Indoors, you’ll find a large fully licensed bar with three service points, plus plenty of space for parties, functions, and groups across our two lounges, hall, and meeting room. Outdoors, there’s space for sport, summer events, and gatherings on the patio.

Connections
We are proud to continue to be linked closely with many community groups, sport clubs and of course, Highfield St Matthews Church.
St Matthew’s Church is next door, the Grade II* parish church that has anchored Highfield since the 1890s. The hall grew out of that parish. Christenings, funerals and church socials still belong to this corner of Billinge Road, and the CIC keeps a welcome for the congregation alongside everyone else who uses the building.

Highfield Cricket Club has played on this ground for more than a century. The club dates its story back to 1924, and the land was provided by the Blundell family. With both men's and women's cricket now on offer alongside many junior squads, Highfield Cricket Club plays a huge part in bringing the community in for plenty of sporting and social opportunities. The grounds are looked after by a dedicated team of volunteers who give their all throughout the year to make Highfield Cricket Ground one of the best in the Liverpool Competition league.

St Matthew’s Bowling Club plays on the green at the side of the cricket pavilion. Ground-staff and volunteers keep the green in good shape, and recent support, including "National Lottery Awards for All" funding for a mower, leaf blower and edging, has put the green back in condition for members and for visiting clubs. This is a very active part of our community with games and practice sessions on daily throughout the spring, summer and early autumn months.
